If you are considering a France destination wedding weekend you should consider coming to south west France to one of the many gorgeous venues which are within an hour’s drive of Toulouse airport.
Each of these venues together with most of the recommended suppliers are English speaking and based within the region.
From what I have heard from my clients, they chose to have a south west France destination wedding as they could experience and enjoy a wedding weekend with their friends for around the same cost (or not a huge amount more) as one day in their home country. What is not to love about that? A mini break and a wedding/party with your favourite people.
Chateau de puissentut, gers
One hour’s drive from Toulouse Blagnac Airport
I photographed the July wedding of T & E - a German/English couple who live in Australia. We met up in Lectoure a few days prior to the wedding to have a chat and to do the pre wedding shoot.
The wedding was held at the charming Chateau de Puissentut, Homps, Gers where the ceremony took place in an old stone, former pigeonnier with an oak lined path descending down towards it.
Drinks were held around the outside bar, close to the pool (dip your feet in on a hot day). Dinner was held on the lawn in front of the chateau and the party? Well that was held in the Party Barn!

CHATEAU ENGALIN
One hour’s drive from Toulouse Blagnac Airport
This couple, although British, came from New Zealand to celebrate their wedding at the style Chateau Englain, Gers. I knew it was going to be a great day photographically - and I was not disappointed.
The day was threatened with rain so although the ceremony should have taken place within the chapel ruins, it was moved inside but the sun came out and the confetti walk and champagne were held at the chapel.
Further drinks were held around the large pool terrace with a sophisticated pool bar and beautiful views across the valley. Dinner and the party were held in the air conditioned (yes, and it was welcomed) large and stylishly created, restaurant which also has it’s own terrace underneath tall trees.

CHATEAU DE LARTIGOLLE
One hour’s drive from Toulouse Blagnac Airport
An American wedding in south west France held at the beautiful and well run Chateau de Lartigolle.
It is always a pleasure to photograph or film a wedding here. Not only is it a beautiful place, it is also extremely well run.
Usually the ceremony is held in the meadow at the back of the chateau but like another American wedding I filmed earlier in the year (as Ordinary Days Films - M & F wedding), this ceremony was held in front of the chateau and I loved it.
Drinks and some speeches were held on the back terrace and due to a threat of a storm, dinner was held in the cave - but this is no dingy corner. This is a high arched ceilinged huge space which runs underneath the entire chateau and is lit by fairylights and candles - it is very atmospheric and always wonderfully cool.
The party was held in the Cave bar and there was live music. There is also a door which leads onto a terrace and then outside space.
One thing to add about Lartigolle is that they have a fantastic pool terrace/bar/restaurant space which is perfect for a Welcome Drinks evening.
